Clean and Green event in the Northern Quarter 12 August 2021

On Thursday 12 August 2021 there was a litter pick and greening event in the Northern Quarter (NQ)

Thank everyone who came out and supported at the event,

NQ residents and NQAG members Joanne Cross, Mike D'Ambra and Eleanor Strange (who brought two of her friends) volunteered to clean and green in the NQ to help create a brighter environment in the area they live.

Mark and Serena Aldous who are NQ residents also own business Fred Aldous in Stevenson Square. They did some planting. Kevin Shackell (Manchester City Council Grounds Maintenance Team) kindly donated some geraniums.

Mark Aldous created the artwork on the planters and designed the wooden flowers to sit inside them. Mark also created the ‘BEE Tidy’ signs.

The event was supported by Manchester City Council City Centre Neighbourhood Teams:

  • Central Neighbourhood Team - Janet Reilly

  • The Licensing and Out of Hours Team - Ben Moran, Wayne Adams, Rachel Mcdonagh, Dapo Adekugbe, Elizabeth Stewart, David Hall, Sandra Dawson, Jonathon Mathers, Gareth Hall, Christian Whittaker

  • The Anti-Social Behaviour Team - Jenna Southern and Mike Ripley,

  • Two City Centre GMP PSCO's

Stevenson Square businesses Flok and Mint Lounge came out to help with Ezra and Gil providing refreshments. Those who volunteered were also given an active travel goodie bag from TfGM.

It was a great event! It goes to show great things can be achieved when we work together.
