Who We Are

Northern Quarter Action Group is a cooperative partnership bringing together a range of organisations who want to see a bright future for Manchester's Northern Quarter - one which is greener, builds our communities, and enhances what’s special about the NQ.

Our membership currently includes Manchester City Council, Councillors, Northern Quarter Forum, CityCo, Smithfield Residents Association, Northwards Housing, A New Leaf, and representatives from local businesses including Manchester Craft and Design Centre, Manchester Buddhist Centre, Reason Digital, and Jonathan Keenan Photography.

We’re committed to work together to:

  • Make the NQ a greener place and reduce carbon emissions, by reducing traffic, improving air quality, and promote walking and cycling, as well as by enhancing the quality and quantity of the green infrastructure and public spaces

  • Explore the identity of the NQ and conserve what makes it special, be it through advocacy or art

  • Engage with NQ communities - businesses and residents - to supporting community development and harness civic pride through greening events for everyone

Northern Quarter Action Group also supports the Manchester City Council Climate Emergency Motion declared on 10th July 2019 and wants to be actively involved in achieving the zero carbon target by 2038.
